“When I started it was just me doing everything, working from home. I wasn’t nervous because I knew it was going to be successful.”
Simon began in Western Victoria as a livestock agent and auctioneer before transitioning to residential real estate in Melbourne as a buyer specialist. After roles in sales and auctioneering in Melbourne and northern New South Wales, Simon eventually settled on the Sunshine Coast.
His pivot to becoming a buyer’s agent came unexpectedly when a friend from New Zealand asked for help purchasing property. After completing this first informal role, Simon discovered BAI and formalised his new career path.
“I saw an ad on Facebook and thought there’s something in this. I started bashing out a business plan about a buyer’s agency on the Sunshine Coast while I was overseas.”
Simon built his business by leveraging his extensive network, contacting agents, property managers, mortgage brokers, and financial planners across the entire Sunshine Coast. His strategy of supporting referral partners has been crucial to his success.
“BAI gave me the framework to hit the ground running. I had a good network of other buyer agents I could call, and they had far more experience than I did.”
The business now features a strong team with regular training sessions and professional collaborations. Simon maintains high ethical standards and transparency, even welcoming new competitors.
“When someone new starts a business here, I’ll ring them and say congratulations. I want to see them be successful and ethical, and give the buyer’s agent space the good name it deserves.”
