“I’m going to have one shot at this or one shot at life—just make it count. I want to do something for me rather than for someone else.”
Rod’s property journey began at age 10 when his father, who migrated from the Netherlands with just $50, took him to property investment seminars. The catalyst for career change came while visiting his partner, a nurse, at the hospital.
“I just sort of dawned on me… what am I doing? Why am I wasting my time not doing what I want to do?”
Launching in December 2019, Rod’s first challenge was educating real estate agents about the buyer’s agent role. After establishing his Cairns business, Rod expanded across Queensland, creating location-specific businesses under one umbrella. His approach focuses on having local teams in each market to build relationships with agents and provide value to clients.
“For me, it’s having the right team in those spots.”
With systems now refined, Rod is now looking to grow his presence across the country.
“Systems and awareness are the two biggest things. Every client gets the same experience if you’ve got processes in place, and people can’t work with you if they don’t know what you do.”
