“I love being a buyer’s agent to help first home buyers get into the market quickly. In two years, whatever you pay now, you’ll be thinking, ‘we got that cheap.'”
Rodney’s property journey began at age 30 when he purchased his first home in Canberra for $150,000, which doubled in value within 12 months. While still touring, he began reading investment books and property magazines, eventually building a portfolio of 11 properties that allowed him to leave his day job.
At Harcourts, Rodney works under principal Robbie Laro, who believes every major real estate brand will have in-house buyer’s agents within five years. Despite working for a sales office, Rodney maintains complete buyer advocacy.
“I don’t sell anything. I’m just buying for you. In the 18 months I’ve been here, I bought one property from Harcourts. 99% of everything I’ve bought is from other brands.”
Rodney focuses on building relationships with agents across all brands, managing 4-5 clients simultaneously while maintaining work-life balance with his young family. He believes the Southeast Queensland property market will double by 2045, creating unprecedented opportunities.
“BAI is literally responsible for me being here. I can remember watching Ben’s interviews and saying to my wife, ‘I wonder if I could do that.'”
Looking ahead, Rodney aims to help 20-30 clients annually while prioritising family time. His passion for helping people secure property in Brisbane’s competitive market drives his success.
