“I wanted to build a legacy for my children so they never have to worry about working paycheck to paycheck. Property was something I could do whilst being a mom.”
Michelle’s property journey began with her first renovation in 2003, becoming serious about investing around 2011-2012. Her philosophy that “you make profit by what you don’t spend on a reno” drives her approach to sourcing secondhand kitchens for around $1,000 and upcycling materials.
A key factor in Michelle’s success has been her systems and delegation. Her assistant, described as a “joyful champion,” has saved her approximately 500 hours over two years, allowing Michelle to focus on client-facing activities.
“I’ve always been a super connector, super networker. It’s very important. I just always want people to feel part of something.”
The Adelaide market remains strong, particularly in the affordable range. Michelle’s expertise helps clients navigate this competitive landscape while identifying value-add opportunities.
“Being around like-minded people who want to stretch themselves, who want to build businesses, who want to be entrepreneurial—it’s an amazing space.”
Looking ahead, Michelle plans to maintain her boutique approach while potentially mentoring additional buyer’s agents. She’s passionate about encouraging more women to enter property and business.
“You can stay in your lane where you’re safe and you’re getting your weekly paycheck, or you can have some short-term pain for long-term gain. Find something you love and commit to it.”
