“I thought if we could deal with sort of three clients before the end of the year, that would get me out of trouble and I’d be happy. But, it’s been a whirlwind.”
Jack’s decision to switch sides came after noticing how underrepresented buyers were in the Wollongong market. The lightbulb moment came when he recognised the influx of Sydney buyers who lacked local knowledge, agent relationships, and understanding of property values in the area.
“With buyers, they are so appreciative, especially the ones coming down south. When you find them a home, get it for a great price, it’s exactly what they want and they didn’t miss out on it—they’re just so happy.”
Despite challenging market conditions with limited stock and rapidly rising prices, Jack has successfully positioned himself as the solution for frustrated buyers. Surprisingly, even locals are beginning to engage his services, seeking a competitive edge in securing properties.
“The freedom, working from home… being my own boss and having the freedom to work my own hours—I don’t think I could go back anymore. I’ve never worked harder, but I’ve never had something so rewarding as well.”
Looking ahead, Jack plans to scale his business by hiring staff and expanding his social media presence. His goal is to become the recognised industry leader for buyer’s representation in the Wollongong region.
“I want to figure out how to split myself in half, essentially. Next year I want to own social media and gain industry recognition—that’s my big goal.”
