From E-Commerce Entrepreneur to Sutherland Shire’s Go-To Buyer’s Agent

For Tegan Vincent, making the leap into a career as a buyer’s agent was more than just a change of profession—it was about rediscovering a passion, embracing new challenges, and designing a fulfilling life for herself and her family.

Tegan’s journey to becoming a buyer’s agent started with a rekindled love for real estate. Before starting her family, Tegan worked as a real estate agent and found a particular joy in helping buyers. After a successful seven-year career as an e-commerce business owner, she realised that her heart was still in real estate. However, she was well aware of the challenges—reentering the industry meant competing with established agents, and she anticipated a three-year climb to gain traction.

Despite this, Tegan was determined to return to real estate on her own terms. As a long-time resident of the Sutherland Shire, her deep knowledge of the local area and her extensive network became crucial assets in launching her career as a buyer’s agent. Within eight months of completing her course with Buyers Agent Institute (BAI), Tegan had already purchased five properties for her clients, garnered ten 5-star reviews, and built a solid reputation as an area specialist.

Now working with seven clients, Tegan is already planning to expand her team. She’s proud of her achievements but remains grounded, sharing that while the journey has been full of wins, it’s also been a learning experience. “There haven’t been many lows,” she reflects, “but one of the hardest things has been getting my hopes up at auctions and not being able to purchase a property for my clients. Auctions are tricky, and they can feel like an emotional rollercoaster.”

Big Wins and Looking Ahead

August 2024 marked a major milestone for Tegan when she signed up four new clients in a single week—a testament to her growing reputation and hard work. Balancing her career with the demands of being a mom to three teenagers, Tegan admits it’s not always easy. But she loves the flexibility her new career offers, allowing her to work from home while still providing top-tier service to her clients.

Tegan’s advice to new BAI students is to “work hard and enjoy the process of learning.” She emphasises the importance of consistency and reminds new agents that confidence and a clear vision are key to success. “Take one step at a time. If you are persistent, it will all come together.”

The Road Ahead for Tegan

With her business thriving, Tegan is now looking to hire staff to support her growing client base. She doesn’t spend time worrying about competing with other agents; instead, she focuses on doing her job better and delivering exceptional service. As she continues to build her brand as the go-to buyer’s agent in the Sutherland Shire, Tegan’s goal is simple: to be the best. And to help her clients navigate the property market with ease, confidence, and expert guidance.

When she’s not working, you’ll likely find Tegan down at Cronulla, walking the esplanade or swimming at the beach, enjoying the coastal lifestyle she loves. Through hard work, dedication, and a genuine passion for real estate, Tegan has created a thriving career that allows her to balance family life with professional success—an inspiration for those looking to follow in her footsteps.
