“I think as a buyer’s agent you can be yourself more. When people see you as you and not some facade, they open up and you get to really work with them. When we settle, it’s really emotional – sometimes we’re all crying, but I love that side of it.”
Sarah’s transition came after growing frustrated with traditional real estate office politics and being inspired by the broker-buyer model she observed in the United States. She recognised that Australian property buyers often lacked representation.
With over 20 years in the North Shore, Sarah leverages her deep local knowledge and extensive network. Her background as a selling agent gives her unique insight into agent tactics during negotiations.
“Relationships with real estate agents are really important because you know their tactics. Having been a real estate agent, I know how to push someone up, so now I’m learning how to bring them back down.”
Sarah deliberately maintains a boutique model, working with just 3-5 clients monthly to ensure personalised attention. This approach allows her to understand each client’s needs and build relationships that often evolve into friendships.
Looking ahead, Sarah plans to continue focusing exclusively on the owner-occupier market rather than expanding into investment properties, maintaining her authentic, relationship-focused approach.
“Knowing your market is one of the most important things. It’s about managing your client’s expectations and making sure they don’t overpay. I’m beside them, and we will find that property for them.”
