Transitioning from Nursing to Real Estate

Michelle’s professional journey began in the healthcare industry as an intensive care nurse. While she enjoyed helping people, she also had a deep-rooted passion for property. She started investing by renovating the home her and her then fiance purchased. It was her first full house reno  and this experience ignited a passion for real estate. What started as a side interest soon grew into something more significant. People starting asking her to help them with property investing and renovating. 

“The moment I did my first renovation, I was hooked,” Michelle recalls. “I found so much joy in the process of improving properties and realised that this could be more than just a hobby.”

Despite the stark differences between healthcare and real estate, Michelle found parallels in both careers. In nursing, she developed strong communication and problem-solving skills that later became valuable in her new role as a property advisor and buyers agent. After several years of balancing both careers, Michelle made the brave decision to step away from nursing and launch her own buyers agency.

Building a Female-Led Buyers Agency

Starting her own buyers agency was no small feat. Michelle launched Michelle Lewis Property SA, focusing on the Adelaide and Perth property market. What makes her story particularly powerful is the unique perspective she brings as a woman in a male-dominated industry.

Today, Michelle’s agency not only serves a diverse range of clients but also prioritises empowering her clients especially women. She is passionate about breaking down barriers and ensuring that women feel confident when making property decisions, whether they are investing or purchasing a home. She also loves to encourage other woman buyers agents.

Her commitment to this cause has been met with incredible support. Michelle emphasises the importance of networking and surrounding herself with like minded individuals, which has been key to her success.
