“I’m a big believer that when you get offered an opportunity, you don’t necessarily have to take people up, but you should always hear them out. You don’t really gain anything by being close-minded.”
Lachlan served as an officer on four ships, even studying for his Master’s in Finance during deployments. This military experience instilled crucial skills in leadership, teamwork and planning that he now applies to his property business.
After transitioning to management consulting with Deloitte and later Accenture, Lachlan built his property portfolio with his partner, including ventures into luxury development, creating a natural pathway to helping others achieve similar results.
Atlas Property Group takes a national approach to investment, working with clients from across Australia. While based in Canberra, Lachlan’s Sydney roots allow him to service a diverse client base, with plans to eventually relocate to Sydney.
“BAI was a great opportunity. When I realised what a great course you’d set up and the successes some students had, I thought, I’d be crazy to not give it a run.”
Currently balancing his corporate role with growing his business, Lachlan plans to eventually transition full-time. His partner, who currently helps behind the scenes, will join in a client-facing role as they expand, with potential plans to develop a property development division.
“We’ve envisaged a dream where we’re our own bosses and can make our own company and legacy. We’re not building it for someone else. We’re building it for us.”
